Bob Talkington's Story
Bob Talkington participated successfully for 33 years in self-help programs and helped numerous others in their personal recovery processes. Bob passed away in 2000. One of Bob’s best friends in life was Don Larson, pictured on the right. By 2006, Don had become motivated to create a self-help recovery center in Neosho in memory of Bob and Don’s daughter, Kelly, who had succumbed to substance abuse at an early age. The goal was to provide a safe meeting environment for all those working on their own recovery. He began recruiting a group of like-minded civic leaders, including Bob’s nephew Dr. Rodney McFarland, to serve on a Board of Directors for the fledgling organization. Harry Lineberry and Pete Wheelan were also original members on the board, and all three continue to serve. The total board volunteers that make up the management team are:
Sy Werner, President/Executive Director
Laura Gulick, Vice President/Secretary
Pete Wheelan, Treasurer
Glenn Brown, Director
Harry Lineberry, Director
Dr. Craig Pendergrass, Director
Scott Wade, Director
Steve Haskins, Director
Alissa Hendricks, Director
Dr. Rodney McFarland, Director
